The Internet in the 21th century

Today. I went to one of the Distinguished Lecture Series held by U of T. The topic is as the title: The Internet in the 21th century. Vint Cerf, who gave us the lecture, was known as the father of the Internet. His contributions to the Internet are tremendous that drafting up TCP/IP protocol is just one achievement among the list. You know, TCP/IP is what our current Internet is based on. Without it, there is no Internet! His fame of course drew a large attention within the campus. During the lecture which was held in a lecture with its capacity of 400 people, the room was packed with listeners. Those who came late had to sit on the floor. Besides, it is amazing to see that almost every professor in computer science had came and sat with their students listenining to Cerf's speech.

In his speech, Vint Cerf mentioned a number of topics related to the Internet technology. Although most of the content is hard to understand if you dont have the background knowledge, he then moved on talking the future for the Internet which was quite enlightening. As he works for google, he mentions the idea to do advertising by implementing new technologies. e.g. You can pause a video stream from the Internet and click any object in the image to obtain information about that product... Another impressive topic is about inter-planet network. This is a crazy idea to build a network with the same functionality as the Internet within our solar system. And by implementing a new series of protocols, this network could be used for many purposes such as space adventures. Taking the fact that China is now working on sending astrouauts to the moon, Americans have really surpassed us a great many years!

So exciting about the lecture and wrote those words above...

And here's the link to the biography of Vint Cerf(http://individual.utoronto.ca/spifeweb/speech.htm).

Tour to Vietnam

Havent updated my blog for quite a long time, well actually i've been travelled a lot. About 3 weeks after i came back to China, i began my travel with the first stop to Sanya, Hainan and then to Haikou, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Zhenzhou, Kaifeng and now to Hanoi, Vietnam. The latter is really a impressive tour, not only i went abroad to a neighbouring country, but the trip is sth like going back  to  China in 1970s. Everything there is so interesting that will waken my imagination about how china looked 30 years ago. The highlight of the trip is that i went to Halong bay, a well-known tourist attraction that got its fame for its exotic moutains and water. It is also called "Guiling in seawater"(my interpretation:P) . Well, check out the pics below and you'll know the reason.

Home for dinner!!

Finally got home, after flying over almost half of the earth. On my way back, i even passed thru arctic, though there's nothing can be seen from the plane which is 10km above the continent. Hope one day i could visit there and hopefully the polar bears won't chase after me :P

Ppl say i am too LAZY that i havent update my blog for quite a long time, well this is true that it's not updated but i am not lazy, just lost the motivation that drives me to maintain the blog.

Nevertheless, to keep the blog is not a bad idea for me now since i am at home with a plenty of time in my hand. So, let's do it!
